Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 15, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how TapCal ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you visit or use https://www.tapcal.app (the "Site") and when you use the TapCal mobile application (the "App"), or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the "Services"). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "you" and "your" means you as the user of the Services.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy on the Site, update the "Last updated" date, and take any other steps required by applicable law.
Consent
By using the Site or the App, you hereby consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Information We Collect
We design TapCal and its website to collect as little information as reasonably possible. We do not create user accounts and we do not use the Site or the App to build marketing or tracking profiles.
Information Collected via the Site
If you contact us directly (for example, by email), we may receive information such as your name, email address, and the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you choose to provide.
We do not offer account registration on the Site and we do not ask you to submit personal information in order to browse the Site.
Information Collected via the App
The App is a calendar application that integrates with Apple's EventKit, WeatherKit, notification system, and certain third-party services (such as advertising SDKs) to provide its functionality. The categories of information used by the App are:
- Calendar data (on-device only): The App reads, creates, modifies, and deletes events in your device's calendars via EventKit. All calendar data remains on your device. Syncing with iCloud, Google, Exchange, or other accounts is handled solely by Apple. We do not upload your calendar data to our own servers.
- Location data (for weather display only): If you grant permission, the App uses your device's location to request and display weather information via Apple WeatherKit. Location is used only to obtain current weather conditions; we do not store your location or keep a history of locations.
- Notifications: If you grant permission, the App uses local notifications to remind you about events and to provide app-related alerts. Notification content is generated on the device. We do not transmit your notifications to our own servers.
- Advertising data (AdMob in the App): The App may use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads, subject to Google's own privacy policies and your consent choices (including personalised or non-personalised ads).
- Optional feedback messages: The App includes a feedback feature where you can voluntarily submit a text message. We receive only the text you choose to send. We do not automatically attach identifiers. These messages are processed via a Cloudflare Worker and stored in a private Notion database for support and improvement of the App.
- Apple system data: Apple may collect anonymous diagnostics and usage information as part of iOS and App Store services. This is controlled by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policies.
We do not intentionally collect personal data beyond what is necessary to operate the App and respond to feedback. If you choose to include personal information in a feedback message, you do so voluntarily.
Information We Do Not Collect
Through the Site or the App, we do not:
- Create user accounts or user profiles in our own systems
- Store your calendar data on our servers
- Store your payment or billing details
- Collect your contact list or address book
- Collect your exact location history or movement profile
- Use the Site or the App to track you across other apps and websites for our own purposes
How We Use Information
We use the limited information we receive for the following purposes:
- To operate the Site and ensure it is functioning correctly
- To operate the App's core features, including calendar management, weather display, and notifications
- To display advertising in the App via AdMob, subject to Google's policies and your consent settings
- To respond to feedback and support requests that you voluntarily submit
- To maintain the security and reliability of our infrastructure
Log Files
TapCal and our hosting providers may follow a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. The information collected by log files can include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to information that is directly personally identifiable. The purpose of this information is to administer the Site, maintain security, and understand aggregate usage trends.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for it to function (for example, to keep basic technical preferences or to protect against misuse). We do not use cookies on the Site for advertising or behavioural tracking.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can typically be found at the browsers' respective websites.
Subscriptions and Payments
The App offers subscriptions that are handled exclusively through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not process payments directly and we do not have access to your full payment details. All billing, renewal, and cancellation for subscriptions are managed by Apple via your Apple ID account.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of third-party services to operate the App and support functionality:
- Google AdMob (in the App): Used to display advertisements in the App. Google may collect device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data. For more information, see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple WeatherKit: Used to fetch weather information based on your approximate location when you grant location permission. This is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policies at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
- Cloudflare: Cloudflare Workers are used to securely process optional feedback submissions. Cloudflare may collect basic request metadata (such as IP address) as part of providing its services. See https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
- Notion: Optional feedback text submitted from the App is stored in a private Notion database. For details, see Notion's privacy and security information at https://www.notion.so/help/security-and-privacy.
Our Privacy Policy does not apply to how these third parties independently process data. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to help protect the information we handle, including:
- Keeping calendar data on your device rather than on our own servers
- Transmitting feedback over secure HTTPS connections
- Restricting access to the private Notion database used for feedback
- Using Cloudflare security features such as rate limiting and authentication for feedback endpoints
However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
