TapCal 1.6 Is Here: Lock Screen Widgets, Full-Screen Alarms, and More

TapCal just got a big update. Version 1.6 brings some of the most requested features to date, from Lock Screen widgets to full-screen reminder alarms, along with a handful of improvements that make the app feel noticeably more polished day to day.

Lock Screen Widgets

You can now add TapCal directly to your iPhone Lock Screen. At a glance, you get your upcoming calendar events and reminders without unlocking your phone. If you are the kind of person who checks your schedule constantly, this one is going to save you a lot of taps!

A New Agenda Widget

The new Agenda widget started as a design sent in by a user, and it was too good not to build!

It’s simple, readable, and focused on what matters. You can quickly scan what’s coming up without digging into the app.

Full-Screen Reminder Alarms

Timed reminders now support full-screen alerts with sound, so you will not miss an important one when your phone is sitting on a desk. There is also a 5-minute snooze option built in, for those moments when you need just a little more time.

Event Time Zones

Planning meetings across time zones just got a lot simpler. You can now set and view a time zone on individual events, so there is no more mental arithmetic when scheduling calls with people in other cities.

Weather Icon Styles

Head into Weather settings and you will find new icon style options. A small touch, but a nice one if you like seeing the weather at a glance.

Bug Fixes

A few things that were not quite right have been sorted out in this release:

• Widget updates were not always refreshing reliably. That has been fixed.
• Natural language date input now defaults to 24-hour time when you type a time without specifying AM or PM, which is more useful for most people outside the US.
• The notes field when adding an event used to get buried under the keyboard while typing. It now stays visible above it, which makes writing longer notes much less frustrating.

Improvements

• Sharper styling throughout. More areas match your chosen accent colour, and the calendar event timeline uses a dashed line style that looks a lot cleaner.
• The event list header has been trimmed slightly so the weekday label takes up less space, leaving more room for the new weather icon beside it.
• The heatmap widget now adjusts its range dynamically based on how many events you actually have, so the visual spread is always useful rather than bunched up at one end.

Get the Update

TapCal 1.6 is available now on the App Store. If automatic updates are on, it should already be on your device. If not, head to the App Store and grab it from there.
